Loop Hearing System at Elmwood Playhouse
Smart Technology at a Smart Community Theatre:
The T‑Coil Loop Hearing System at Elmwood Playhouse
Nyack, NY – August – September 2015 press release
Elmwood Playhouse: First theatre in the Lower Hudson River Valley to provide the Hearing Loop for patrons with hearing loss.
As part of our pre-season renovations, Elmwood Playhouse is happy to announce the installation of a T-Coil Loop, a sound reinforcement hearing system for audiences with hearing loss. Amplified speech, sound and music is broadcast clearly and directly to the wearers hearing aid via a central location on premises. This smart technology is already present in over 80% of all current hearing aid and cochlear devices worn today. Patrons simply press a button on their aids to access the sound of the performance. Elmwood also provides infrared listening devices for individuals who do not have hearing instruments. All theatre goers with hearing loss can now hear clearly and enjoy the performances without inconvenience.
Elmwood Playhouse is a nonprofit community theatre providing award-winning and affordable theatre for over 68 years. The theatre is dedicated to presenting plays of cultural value and advancing personal skills through performance, stage craft and community involvement. The newly renovated complex boasts an intimate 99-seat, air-conditioned theatre, rehearsal studios and full production facilities. Complimenting the main stage musicals, comedies and dramas, Elmwood hosts free workshops, classes, and special events. Located in the artistic heart of Nyack, Elmwood Playhouse is actively partnered with local community culture, fine dining, and nightlife. The playhouse encourages all creative people, onstage and off, to get involved; visit www.elmwoodplayhouse.com for information, production dates and audition notices.
The T-Coil Hearing Loop is sponsored in part by a generous provision by Ahrens Hearing Center and LoopNJ, located in Fair Lawn, NJ. By supporting Elmwood Playhouse and providing hearing loss solutions, Ahrens is working to increase public awareness of hearing loops in public spaces and how they dramatically change lives.
