James Lugo

last appeared here as Birdboot in The Real Inspector Hound. Favorite Elmwood roles include Morty in Awake and Sing, Foreman/Pimp in Les Misérables, Cladwell in Urinetown, Charles in Blithe Spirit, Vladimir in Waiting for Godot, Jasper in Edwin Drood, and Rutledge in 1776. This now makes 24 roles since Sweeney Todd in the spring of 1983. At Antrim, Jim has appeared as Garfinkle in Other People’s Money, McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Petruchio in Kiss Me Kate, Valmont in Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and Morris Townsend in The Heiress; a total of 19 productions since playing Alan in Boys in the Band in 1984. Some roles with Bergen County Players include Charlie Cowell in The Music Man, Panch in Spelling Bee, Oscar in Curtains, and Tito in Lend Me a Tenor. Roles in Westchester include Rutledge in 1776, Chandebise in A Flea in Her Ear, and Husband/Bartender in Contact. Jim studied at The Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. When not paraphrasing playwrights onstage, he works in Paramus. He sends his love to Maria, Amanda, and Christian.
